We Hawaiian language faculty and students alike constantly search for ways to meet other speakers of Hawaiian to enhance our fluency. In 2001 and 2002 were the first Hawaiian language trips to Kahoʻolawe. Since 2014 until now, the Hawaiian language trip continues during Spring break. It is a normal access to Kahoʻolawe—we do clean up, plant gardens, make trails, visit storied sites, prepare meals, clean up, sing and create music, as well as other things. What’s best is the gab that satiates our quest for Hawaiian language interaction. It is a multi-campus gathering of UH Mānoa, Hilo, and Maui.
